Ever been at a concert where confetti drops from the ceiling? Not a frown in the house.īut it’s not just confetti – it’s anything flowers, balloons, cupcakes, puppies. There’s a lot of it, whatever it is! One confetto (singular of confetti) is less exciting than a whole handful exploding across the room. There was less crime, less trash, and more life. By adding color, and therefore energy, the city felt more cared for. The town of Tirana, Albania was rescued from crime and corruption with a paint job that livened the color of the buildings. Energy pulses and joy flows, especially when vibrant color is present. Things with liveliness and vitality invigorate us.

(She also gave a stellar TED talk too!) Energy Because joy is a feeling and somewhat elusive, IFL wanted to determine what exactly creates the feeling of joy. Through IFL’s studies and research over the last 10-odd years, she has determined 10 qualities that constitute joy – the aesthetics of joy.
